Description of Significance CONSTRUCTED IN 1929, THE SOONER THEATER WAS DESIGNED BY ARCHITECT HAROLD GIMENO. HIS FATHER, THE ARTIST PATRICIO GIMENO, ADDED MUCH OF THE DETAIL PAINTING IN THE AUDITORIUM. THE SOONER OPENED AS A COMBINATION THEATER, FEATURING A FULLY EQUIPPED STAGE AS WELL AS SOUND MOVIES. THE EXTERIOR OF THE THEATER IS ORNAMENTED IN A SPANISH BAROQUE MOTIF. THE THEATER WAS RECENTLY RESTORED AND REURNED TO ITS ORIGINAL USE. LISTED IN NATIONAL REGISTER 8/31/78.
